Job Summary

The Assistant Construction Manager will support the Construction Manager in overseeing and coordinating various road construction projects. This role emphasizes the importance of safety protocols and regulations, ensuring that all activities are performed in compliance with safety standards. The Assistant Manager will assist in planning, scheduling, and monitoring project activities while fostering a safe work environment for all team members.

Main Responsibilities

Safety Management:

  • Assist in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures specific to road construction.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on the construction site to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate safety training sessions for all construction staff, promoting awareness of safety best practices.

Project Coordination:

  • Support the Road Construction Manager in planning and scheduling project tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and team members to facilitate effective communication and workflow.
  • Monitor project progress and report any delays or issues to the Road Construction Manager.

Quality Control:

  • Help ensure that all construction activities meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews and suggest improvements as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, safety incidents, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for stakeholders, including safety performance metrics and project status updates.

Team Support:

  • Foster a positive work environment that prioritizes safety and teamwork.
  • Support the recruitment and training of new personnel, emphasizing the importance of safety practices.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about local, state, and federal safety regulations relevant to road construction.
  • Assist in ensuring that all project activities adhere to applicable laws and guidelines.
Education And Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in road construction or civil engineering is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards in construction.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment

The Assistant Construction Manager will primarily work on-site at various construction locations, requiring physical stamina and the ability to navigate active work environments. This role may involve working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
