As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine (UCCOM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.The Department of Family & Community Medicine has played a leading role in fellow, resident, and medical student education since 1974 and continues to focus on improving the health of members of our Cincinnati community and beyond, with a special focus on medically underserved patients. With faculty expertise in areas such as primary care research, palliative care, geriatrics, global health and integrative medicine, the department is advancing the college's commitment to cultivating learning environments, fostering research and scholarship, and providing innovative patient care. The Department of Family and Community Medicine (UCDFM) is recruiting two (2) physicians for a Global Health (GH) Fellowship.The UCDFCM Global Health (GH) Fellowship is a one (1) or two (2) year family medicine fellowship designed for physicians interested in caring for underserved/vulnerable populations while strengthening their clinical and scholarly skills in global health. The two-year fellowship includes the option for tuition remission for completion of Masters of Public Health (MPH) in Global Health. Fellows will deepen their competencies in the following six areas of Global and Underserved Health: Describe and address the determinants of health as a foundation in global and underserved health, Interpret health in the context of the principles of community and population health, Provide high-quality care in low resource settings and for vulnerable populations, Demonstrate effective communication and cultural humility in patient, team, and community relationships, Advocate effectively on an individual, local, and national level within the context of global health ethics, Apply the attitudes and skills of sustainable servant-leadership in multiple healthcare settings including interdisciplinary teams. The GH Fellowship is a non-ACGME-accredited fellowship in which the Fellow is appointed as an entry-level faculty member in the UC Department of Family & Community Medicine. Essential Functions
