Sayres is seeking a Sr. HR Generalist/Business Partner for the corporate office located in Washington, DC. The position is located in one of the most exciting, growing and developing areas of Washington DC- just outside the Navy Yard almost next to Nationals Park. The economic development of the area provides for high quality of work/life with many vibrant restaurants and green spaces along the river.

This position is hybrid/remote with 3 days in office.

The Sr. HR Generalist/Business Partner will apply initiative and self-direction while working within a team framework under the guidance, supervision, and mentorship of senior leaders and staff. You will be provided the opportunity to apply your education, knowledge, skills, and abilities towards the continuous improvement of business processes and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Sr. HR Generalist/Business Partner will be responsible for supporting company-wide functional areas of HR with the duties and responsibilities outlined below. The primary focus being new hire orientation, human resources Information System administration, employee relations, on-off boarding, HR compliance reporting AAP/ EEO1/VETS, supporting corporate and various business programs, benefits administration, and general HR day-to-day administration. This Full-Time Exempt position reports directly to the VP of Human Resources.



  • Administers various corporate HR programs, policies, and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Assists in the development and interpretation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Records management administration.
  • Reviews, reconciles, and approves all benefits expenses.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, procedures, and programs to effect continual improvement of Human Resource Development to streamline processes for efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Assists in evaluating reports, decisions, and department results in relation to established goals.
  • Executes annual performance management programs and conducts supervisory training to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Partners with the Talent Acquisition Specialist to maintain affirmative action program and coordinate annual update/analyses with vendor; files government reports (EEO-1 and VETS-100A); maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Keeps abreast of legislative changes and maintains compliance with federal and state employment law, especially new OFCCP regulations regarding veterans and individuals with disabilities.
  • Supports and mediates employee issues/complaints, to include guiding/advising supervisors on progressive discipline; responds to employee relation issues, such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints and conducts investigations in concert with VP of Human Resources.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, seminars, workshops, and conferences as needed.
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compilation of reports from the database.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Possesses intermediate knowledge of the HR Bodies of Knowledge.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High-level critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiently skilled at managing several processes concurrently.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates practical application and exercise of judgment concerning HR policies, processes, employment law, and government compliance regulations.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge base of federal regulations and state employment regulations for locations where the company conducts business.
  • Advanced computer skills, including data entry, data processing, communication tools, and payroll and human resource software.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change in a very dynamic environment, along with the ability to quickly learn.
  • Able to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships.
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of business-sensitive, company proprietary, and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:



  • A bachelor's degree and at least 5-7 years of relevant, progressive HR experience or a combination of education and HR experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with benefits administration.
  • In-depth understanding of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Experience in a federal government contracting environment a must.
  • SharePoint experience


PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and CERTIFICATIONS:



  • Experience working with Isolved or related HRIS systems. Experience supporting payroll through Unanet.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification nice to have but not required.
  • Experience in a federal government contracting environment a must.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 5 pounds at times.
