Job Summary

The Eye Center's goals and objectives are to achieve excellence in the care of patients, excellence in teaching, and the search for prevention of sight threatening disease. This position is located in the Imaging Center and will perform a variety of imaging duties including fundus photography, posterior/anterior OCT, external photography, Corneal imaging, IOL calculations, axial length measurement, ICG angiography, Stereoscopic disc imaging and fluorescein angiography. Incumbent will also provide support services, which may include Patient screening and work up in all sub-specialties, maintaining supplies, and coordinating referring physician requests. Must have knowledge of basic anterior and posterior imaging modalities, eye anatomy, and extensive knowledge in patient screening. Ongoing training in new technologies and quality improvement resources will be provided.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
  • Several years of experience performing basic fundus photography and OCT.
  • Basic knowledge of ocular anatomy including the anterior and posterior segment and ability to apply the knowledge to ocular imaging. Basic experience with fundus photography cameras, corneal imaging, and IOL calculations including knowledge of common ocular pathology and diseases and how they appear on exam. Prior experience with Forum and Harmony (digital imaging software for Ophthalmology). Ability to interpret policies and procedures and to apply standards consistently. Must possess strong interpersonal skills, which will support and maintain professional relationships with patients and members of the health team. Posesses the ability and desire to learn and improve on new imaging procedures as they are added to the Imaging Center services. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of computer systems to include troubleshooting, burning DVDs, copying files, uploading and downloading various medical imaging. Must be able to effectively communicate with professor/physician, researchers, laboratory staff, graduate/undergraduate students and department staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT-C) preferred Registered Ophthalmic Ultrasound Biometrist (ROUB) preferred
  • Three(3) to (5) years of experience performing fluorescein angiography, fundus photography, anterior segment imaging, and anterior/posterior OCT highly preferred.

Work Environment
