JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Shenango is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to serve as the Part-Time Civic and Student Life Coordinator during a temporary leave period. This position will support a vibrant student life experience and promote civic engagement, leadership development, and inclusive programming.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate student activities and campus events, including welcome week, club meetings, and cultural programs.
  • Advise student government and campus clubs/organizations, and facilitate club officer training.
  • Oversee student leadership development programming.
  • Partner with local organizations to create civic and community engagementopportunities.
  • Assist with promotion and logistics of events through campus communications and social media.
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping of event participation and club funding use.
  • Support DEIB efforts through programming and student support initiatives.
  • Chaperone and transport students on campus-affiliated and organized trips.
  • Support the Nittany Nook Committee to help meet student food insecurity and other basic needs.
  • Maintain Student ID Discount database and promote the initiative to students and businesses.
  • Act as a Title IX Resource Person on campus.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Student Affairs, Education, Communications, or related field.
  • Experience in student life or higher education preferred.
  • Strong communication, time management, and event planning skills.
  • Ability to work some evening or weekend events as needed.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
