S&ME is seeking a highly skilled & experienced Geotechnical Engineer & Project Manager to become part of our team in Wilmington, North Carolina. As a Geotechnical Engineer & Project Manager, you will lead and manage complex projects, mentor team members, and collaborate with leadership to ensure the success of geotechnical and construction materials testing initiatives. With opportunities for operational leadership, this role offers a clear path for professional growth within a rapidly expanding office.

What You'll Do:

• Manage the execution of geotechnical and construction materials testing projects, ensuring budgets, schedules, and quality standards are met.
• Partner with clients to understand their goals, tailoring services to exceed expectations and foster long-term relationships.
• Support and guide engineers, project managers, and field staff, promoting a culture of excellence and growth.
• Identify opportunities to expand our presence, build local client networks, and drive revenue growth through strategic initiatives.
• Develop and review complex project proposals, reports, and recommendations that meet industry and client standards.

What We're Looking For:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in geotechnical or construction materials testing, including project management.
• 4+ years in a leadership role with a focus on team and project development.
• A strong understanding of ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and experience with IBC Special Inspections.
• Experience managing projects in rapidly growing markets or leading multi-disciplinary teams is a plus.

What to Expect:

With the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions
• Walking over rough terrain and standing for long periods (up to 12 hours)
• Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment
• Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
