Position Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a critical role in shaping Mid-Atlantic FCU's financial strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability, and driving financial performance. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO will oversee financial planning, risk management, investment strategies, and
regulatory compliance, while fostering a culture of transparency and financial discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Develop and execute Mid-Atlantic FCU's financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Advise the CEO and Board of Directors on financial performance, risk management, and strategic opportunities.
- Lead financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling.
- Financial Operations and Oversight:
- Supervise accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management functions.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with regulatory and GAAP standards.
- Oversee investment activities and maintain strong asset-liability management practices.
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Manage liquidity, interest rate risk, and capital adequacy in accordance with NCUA regulations and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and policies to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure financial integrity.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Promote professional growth and development within the finance/accounting team.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as a liaison with regulators, auditors, and financial institutions as needed.
- Prepare financial presentations for the Board of Directors and senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within the credit union or banking sector.
- Deep understanding of financial regulations (NCUA, GAAP) and industry trends.
- Strong strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
- Experience with financial technology platforms and data analytics is a plus.
