About the College/Unit/Department |
Part of the Division of Student Affairs, University Housing consists of nearly 2.8 million square feet of facilities and is home to more than 9,000 students. The department employs 220 full-time staff members, 21 graduate assistants and 565 undergraduate student workers. As a self-supporting auxiliary, University Housing operates a $59 million budget derived only from student housing fees and other non-state sources.
In support of its mission to provide comfortable, affordable and secure housing options where the academic success and personal growth of residents are encouraged and supported, University Housing engages staff members in competency-based training and students in curriculum-based engagement focused on community building, interpersonal skills, social awareness and responsibility, and well-being. |

Preferred Qualifications |
- 4 + years of experience in security systems integration, with a focus on access control.
- Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent technical training.
- Proficiency in installing and configuring electronic access control systems.
- Certified Alarm Technician (CAT) Level I, Certified Systems Integrator (CSI), or Certified Security Systems Integrator (CSSI).
- Basic locksmithing skills, including lock installation and repair.

Position Summary |
The Security Systems and Access Control Integrator is a skilled professional specializing in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of integrated security and access control systems. This role encompasses electronic card readers, biometric devices, keypads, and physical locks. The primary responsibility is to design and implement security solutions that ensure effective access control and monitor entry to various facilities. The Security Systems and Access Control Integrator configures systems based on specific requirements, manages integration with physical locking mechanisms, and assesses overall security measures. |

- Requires technical knowledge of electronic security systems and/or electronic access control systems or equivalent, acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training.
- Ability to manage multiple installations and upgrades concurrently, ensuring timely completion.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with customers and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in creating clear, detailed documentation for system configurations and user manuals.
- Enhanced problem-solving skills for complex system issues beyond basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to adjust to rapidly changing technology and security threats.
- Capability to work effectively in a team environment, especially with other technical staff.
- Ability to train new employees or less experienced colleagues in security system operations.
- Strong focus on accuracy during installation and maintenance to ensure system integrity.
- Knowledge of integrating security systems with building management systems.

- Regularly exposed to work in non-climate-controlled environments.

Access Control Installation & Maintenance - 55%
- Install, configure, and maintain electronic access control systems.
- Integrate electronic systems with physical locks and other related hardware components to create cohesive security solutions.
- Provide limited locksmithing services, including lock installation, repair, and rekeying as needed.
- Perform upgrades or enhancements to existing systems, incorporating new features or security measures as technology advances.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electronic access control systems and related components, maintaining knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems.
- Conduct routine preventive inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal functionality of access control systems, documenting results and recommendations.
- Respond to work order requests and maintain accurate documentation of installations, maintenance, and repairs.

- Stay updated on industry standards, building codes, and regulations related to security systems and locksmithing.

- Participate in maintenance after-hours on-call program as required.
