JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The College/Unit of Housing and Food Services, Harrisburg is seeking applicants for part-time job of Culinary Extern.
Job Duties
- Assist in preparing and cooking meals in accordance with standardized recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Support daily kitchen operations including food prep, line service, and sanitation.
- Learn and apply food safety standards (e.g., ServSafe protocols).
- Participate in menu planning, special events, and sustainability initiatives.
- Collaborate with chefs and team members to ensure food quality and presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and storage areas.
- Complete a final project of a feature meal for one of our outlets.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a culinary arts, hospitality, or related academic program.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen tools, food preparation techniques, and safety practices.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- A positive attitude and a passion for food and service.
Compensation
- The starting rate for this job is $15/hour.
