We specialize in treatment for adults, children and adolescents. Brentwood Behavioral offers both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. This opening is for a dynamic Admissions/Intake Registered Nurse (Full-Time) (shift: VARIED: 7A-7P/7P-7A). The Intake/Admissions Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and compassionate intake process for patients seeking behavioral health treatment. This position is responsible for conducting initial clinical assessments, gathering medical histories, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to determine appropriate levels of care. The Intake/Admissions Nurse provides education to patients and families, ensuring understanding of treatment plans and facility policies. Strong communication, critical thinking, and crisis intervention skills are essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities: Receives all inquiry calls and responds to requests for information and assessments rapidly and ensures relevant report is obtained and passed on to receiving unit/physician. Expert in documentation, communication, teamwork and customer service. Advocates for internal and external customers including the client, family, physician, medical facility, behavioral healthcare facility and managed care organizations. Liaisons with physicians, psychiatrist, other facilities and managed care organizations to promote optimal use of the continuum of care for each individual transferred. Enters relevant information into EMR for patients arriving on shift requiring admission. This includes, but is not limited to order entry for Telephone orders given by admitting physician and medication entry. Experience: 1-2 years in psychiatric/mental health treatment programs and/or substance abuse, including experience in intake/admissions and managed care preferred. Knowledge of psychiatric behavioral health diagnostic criteria, quality assessment skills, inluding listening and writing legibly, ability to provide customer service in a caring way, even in high stress environments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of COBRA/EMTALA laws. Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Mississippi State Board of Nursing.
