Description
The WVU Visitors Center at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for an Admissions Specialist. The Admissions Specialist is responsible for providing students and families with accurate information when they call or visit the office, for updating prospective student information using Target X CRM, mail, and email requests into the BANNER/STAR Student Information System. This position is responsible for review and distribution of incoming mail such as transcripts and other important documents related to Admissions. The primary responsibilities include communicating with prospective students, parents and high school counselors and provide consistent and accurate responses. Reviews students records in Target X CRM, STAR Student Information System. What you'll do:
- Counseling students all aspects of the admissions process to ensure students and families understand the university's academic, social, and co-curricular offerings. Counsel students and families about academic programs, admissions requirements, housing, financial aid, and student life at WVU. This communication happens on the phone, in person, via email, and through UCHAT.
- Advises students and parents on the admission processes. Provides assistance with the completion of admission applications. Reviews student admissions and academic transcript information as it pertains to admissions requirements. Assist students and/or parents with interpretation of specific WVU policies such as admissions policies, FERPA, residency, etc. Uses BANNER and Workflow to respond to these inquiries.
- Aids students in understanding the process of transferring credit. Ensures that students are aware of all steps necessary to have their credits added and that students understand how their credits transfer in to WVU.
- Assists in answering queries through the UCHAT system for the Office of Admissions--- answering and following up with detailed information in an effort to recruit students to WVU.
- Assists in the management of projects to help further recruitment efforts. This includes putting together recruitment material to be sent to high school personnel, processing incoming and outgoing mail, logging demographic data, tracking and maintaining electronic transcripts, and during peak times assists in the evaluation of First Time Freshmen applications through partnership with the evaluation's unit.
- Oversees the completion of special projects at the discretion of the supervisor including but not limited to assisting with recruiting events including Discover WVU, Decide WVU, Admitted Student Days, New Student Orientation, high ability events, and Junior Preview Week, assisting prospective student visitors in completing an application, paying academic and housing deposits, completing a housing application, and registering for New Student Orientation.
Pay Grade: 13 Length of Assignment: 4 Months Work Hours: 37.5 Hours per week
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of one (1) year of related experience in administrative support, customer services, admissions or similar work experience
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
