Inventory Control Clerk

Job Summary & Essential Functions: The following describes in general terms the
purpose and scope of the position.

Responsible for the performance of inventory control functions to maintain
accuracy and integrity of data and ensure the proper storage of materials per
internal and external requirements. Perform
record keeping activities, auditing, and data entry activities. Coordinate
information among related departments, monitor inventory and report problems,
and meet company and department objectives. Materials
include: raw sheet metal stock, extrusions, components, finished goods, and
coupons.

  • Performs visual verification of material items, monitors inventory levels and reports problems and shortages, anticipates and reports shortages.
  • Kitting/issuing material to work orders
  • Nesting multiple parts/sheet of material
  • Lifting/moving large sheets of metal
  • Precision shear operation
  • Waterjet/laser operation
  • Deburring
  • Forklift operation
  • Cycle Counts
  • Utilizes integrated ERP system to perform daily transactions for issue, receipt, inquiry, report operations complete and other functions as trained and instructed.
  • Performs general housekeeping activities in storage areas.
  • Maintains documentation of all activities related to material issues (cards, labels, tags, etc.).
  • Interfaces with customer, independent auditors and company representatives during inventories, audits, and reconciliation.
  • Physically moves, pulls from stock items per routing Bill of Material instructions and per shipping documentation from Final Inspection.
  • Issues raw materials both physically and in the system, maintains traceability through lot tracking.
  • Understands and follows all internal procedures for material receipts, issue and traceability.
  • Receives raw materials and components, assigns lot numbers.
  • Follows priorities and meet schedules.
  • Packs, protects, stores and secures materials either for storage or transport.
  • Operates label making equipment and affixes labels to skids, boxes, bags, or other storage medium.
  • Nests raw material requirements of work orders to best utilize raw material.
  • Maintains inventory and other stock records.
  • Receives and issues inventory.
  • Performs daily audits.
  • Assists with product identification, location and cyclic counts.
  • Ensures product shelves are tagged and labeled; creates locations for all new parts.
  • Issues and kits both upper level and subordinate assemblies.
  • Tag and label all inventory.
  • Prepares and delivers kits of raw materials, mylars and tools required in the manufacturing process.
  • Receives tools from customer activities, ensuring proper data entry into inventory storage locations.
  • Issues material to jobs from inventory, ensuring proper material certification data is included and noted on the work order.
  • Ensures the proper physical cleaning and upkeep of the kitting areas.
  • Reads and understands work orders so that the appropriate materials, mylars, and tools can be kitted.
  • Utilizes precision measuring equipment to measure metal thickness.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
  • Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.

Required Skills & Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, qualifications,

requirements of this job.

  • Communicates courteously and professionally at all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.
  • Computer literate in MS Word and Excel; experience with integrated MRP systems a plus.
  • Reads and understands internal and customer specifications and material storage instructions.
  • Understands and follows through on both verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, count, work with fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement and quality outlook.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekend hours as needed to support manufacturing and preparation for inventories/audits.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills to deal with people on a continuous basis under production schedule pressures.
  • Job requires daily walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, reaching, and carrying of materials.
  • Must have good finger dexterity - daily computer interface, data entry, typing, operate copy machine, fax, phone.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and climb a ladder in order to read inventory tags and box markings.
  • Must be able to open and close wooden crates by using crowbars, hammers, nails, staple guns, or other related equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Annual baseline hearing test is required.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push wheeled carts/tables.

Required
Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess
the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of
experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to
be considered.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Some experience with aerospace materials, storage, control, traceability procedures, specifications
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the field or related area.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment and Safety
Equipment Required
: The work environment characteristics described here are
representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential
functions of the job. Safety glasses,
safety shoes and other designated personal protective equipment as required for
the position.

  • Working conditions are: 60% office environment, 40% manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • Noise level is moderate in manufacturing areas.
  • Hearing protection as needed depending on environment.
  • Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all non-office areas.
  • Gloves to be worn when handling sheet metal.
  • Fully enclosed shoes of solid, leather construction with a steel or composite toe cap (ANSI Z41 compliant), must be worn in all manufacturing areas.
