Description

WVU Culinary, located on the campus of West Virginia University Institute of Technology, is seeking a passionate and experienced Culinary Instructor to join our team. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that foster student success and contribute to the advancement of our strategic goals.

Responsibilities



  • Teach courses in culinary arts, restaurant management, cost control, and food production (hot and cold).
  • Develop and enhance curriculum for both lecture and laboratory components.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule and participate in culinary events, occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a diverse educational setting.
  • Engage in course assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development activities and stay current with industry trends.
  • Collaborate as a team player in a multicultural working environment.
  • Serve on campus and college committees as needed.
  • Utilize Blackboard (or other LMS platforms) for course delivery and assessment.
  • Obtain either CEC or CEPC certification from the American Culinary Federation at the time of hire or within one year.

Qualifications

Education (One of the Following)



  • Master's degree in culinary arts, business, hospitality, food management, hotel management, or nutrition.
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the fields above and at least two (2) years of recent industry experience.
  • Associate's degree in one of the fields above and at least four (4) years of recent industry experience.


Experience



  • Minimum of two years of full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations is highly valued.
