Job Title: Sales Manager, Japanese Quality Food &
Supplements (New Business Development - West Coast)

Location: Marina Del Rey, CA (Hybrid - once a week)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Sales
Manager to join the West Coast team. This critical role is responsible for
driving new business development, primarily focusing on expanding our footprint
within U.S.-based retail and wholesale food sectors. The ideal candidate will
possess a strong background in the U.S. food industry, excellent
relationship-building skills, and a proactive approach to sales. While building
upon existing client relationships, a significant focus will be on identifying
and securing new accounts, often by engaging with purchasing departments at a
corporate level rather than solely managing in-store promotions. This is an
individual contributor role with significant autonomy and direct impact on the
company's market expansion.

About Company

This is a dynamic and growing company dedicated to providing
high-quality supplement products. They take immense pride in their Japanese
quality standards, striving to deliver exceptional products that genuinely help
people lead healthier lives. Having expanded into the U.S. market two years
ago, they are rapidly establishing their presence and seeking passionate
individuals to drive their continued growth. They foster an environment where
innovative ideas are supported, and proactive, results-driven individuals can
thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify,
target, and acquire new retail and wholesale accounts across the West
Coast, with a strong emphasis on U.S.-based chains.
  • Develop and execute
sales strategies to penetrate new markets and introduce product lines to
    prospective clients.
  • Build and maintain
strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers, especially
    within corporate purchasing departments.
  • While the primary focus
is new business, contribute to the growth and retention of obtained
accounts of grocery chains and distributors, through promotional
    activities and relationship building.
  • Monitor market trends,
competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new opportunities
    and inform sales strategies.
  • Track sales activities,
prepare regular reports on progress, and provide insights to management.
  • Work closely with
internal teams to ensure seamless customer experience and product
    delivery.
  • Utilize personal vehicle
for frequent travel within the West Coast territory to meet with clients
    and prospects (mileage reimbursement provided).

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of
progressive sales experience within the U.S. food industry, specifically
with U.S.-based grocery (retail) or food distribution companies.
  • Strong understanding of
the overall food distribution landscape in the U.S., including retail
    purchasing processes and supply chains.
  • Proven track record of
successful new business development and account acquisition.
  • A self-starter with a
tenacious, "hungry" spirit to challenge new opportunities and
    overcome obstacles.
  • Excellent interpersonal,
    negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license
and reliable personal vehicle for business travel.

Preferred:

  • Some understanding of
the Japanese language or a strong interest in Japanese culture.
  • Experience engaging with
    corporate-level purchasing teams.

Work Environment & Culture

You will be joining a small, dedicated team. While full-time
in-office presence is not required, we encourage weekly visits to their Marina
Del Rey office (typically one day a week) to foster team collaboration and
alignment. They value individuals who are proactive and action-oriented. Their
culture encourages open communication and welcomes innovative ideas; if you
have a vision, they will support you. As a U.S. branch of a Japanese
headquarters, there might be occasional instances where full alignment with all
requests isn't possible, but they seek team members who understand and adapt to
this dynamic.
