Security Officer - Swing Shift

Brophy College Preparatory seeks to hire a personable and experienced professional to join Brophy's security staff. The members of Brophy's security staff maintain a visible and active presence on campus before, during, and after school as well as during major student activities, games, and school events.

Job Title: Security Officer

Position Reports To: Dean of Student Formation

Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Status: Full Time, 11 Month Schedule (August - June), Benefits Eligible

Hours: Mon-Fri: 3:00 pm-11:00 pm; Weekend availability

Pay Range: $23 -$25/hour, depending on experience, overtime is paid at 1.5x hourly rate

Start Date: July 28, 2025

Job Responsibilities Include:



  • Maintain a visible, active presence on campus and at scheduled events
  • Provide supervision of students when on duty, redirecting student behavior according to Brophy's student handbook policies as necessary, and reporting discipline infractions to the Dean of Student Formation for appropriate follow up
  • Engage and greet visitors to campus, providing hospitality and directional assistance to visitors and appropriately engaging and intercepting trespassers
  • Direct traffic in parking lots after school and during major school events
  • Serve as an important member of the school's crisis response team
  • Coordinate with delivery personnel arriving on campus to ensure that deliveries are received in the correct location
  • Collaborate with security staff at neighboring schools as well as local law enforcement on security related matters
  • Lock down the campus at night according to established procedures
  • Patrol the campus exterior and interior constantly throughout the shift making sure to maintain a high profile


Qualifications




  • Commitment to the mission and values of Brophy's Catholic, Jesuit identity
  • Prior experience in a security position or related field. Previous law enforcement experience is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service instincts and skills, along with the ability to thrive as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish is preferred
  • Ability to remain calm and composed during confrontations or stressful situations
  • Ability to effectively and quickly communicate using mobile equipment, including radios and public address systems, if needed
  • Ability to be on one's feet and mobile, regardless of weather conditions, for the entirety of a shift. Overtime is common when athletic or student activities warrant supervision (Overtime is paid at 1.5x hourly rate)
  • Ability to lift loads of at least 30 lbs., and ability to drive a school-provided utility vehicle
  • Must be able to cleanly pass a thorough background check, including a Motor Vehicle Records search
