Joining the Periop 101 training program at Salem Health is more than a career move-it's an entry point into one of the most dynamic and high-impact roles in nursing. As a perioperative nurse in our Level II Trauma Center, you'll be trained to deliver precise, life-saving care in an environment where every second counts and every decision matters.

Through this structured, hands-on program, you'll gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to work across 18 cutting-edge operating rooms, supporting a wide spectrum of surgical specialties. From routine procedures to complex trauma cases, you'll learn how to anticipate needs, think critically under pressure, and become an indispensable member of the surgical team.

What you'll do

Deliver intraoperative nursing care for elective and emergent procedures across multiple specialties.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient surgical workflows.Perform accurate, ongoing patient assessments before, during, and after procedures.Support trauma-level surgical cases as part of a 24/7 coverage team.Utilize state-of-the-art surgical equipment and technology.Communicate clearly and professionally in high-stress, fast-paced environments.Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence.Participate in educational opportunities and certification programs (e.g., CNOR, CRNFA).Foster a supportive and respectful team environment rooted in Salem Health's mission. Required qualificationsRequires a Bachelor of Science (BSN) or Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing, or non-nursing bachelor's degree with a Master of Science in nursing (MSN). Candidates with an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) and graduates of a diploma RN program are also encouraged to apply; ADN applicants with less than five years of acute care experience will be required to sign an agreement committing to complete their BSN or MSN degree within three years of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS).Current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.Minimum of one year of RN Staff Nurse experience required.
