Enbridge Gas Utah is looking for a Utility worker to join their team. The Utility worker will construct, install, and maintain gas distribution pipelines while operating various equipment and tools while also working with gas customers to resolve their gas related concerns. - Assists in construction, maintenance, street repair, installing new gas lines and performing plastic pipe fusion including electro-fusion on IHP services and mains (Possibility of working in a gaseous atmosphere in a fire suit);
- Operates a backhoe, ten wheel dump truck, pavement breakers, tamper and other equipment;
- Completes job related paperwork, records, changes to distribution piping system, including all records to verify material and footage for contractor payment.
- Completes Blue stake location requests when necessary.
- Responds to all emergency calls such as gas leaks, gas related fire calls, evacuations, asphyxiation and broken gas lines.
- Operates required operations department equipment including, but not limited to, boring equipment, backhoe, ten wheel dump truck, service truck, crew truck and mini dump truck.
- Completes turn-on and turn-off orders for gas customers.
- Adjusts new and existing appliances.
Who you are:
- 0 - 2 years of related experience which may include construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other similar fields.
- High school diploma/GED.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- General knowledge of tools and materials for repairs, maintenance and construction.
- Ability to see objects at close range and to determine the distance and relationship between objects, read instructions and write legible figure, comprehend and apply basic math to add, subtract, multiply and divide and read and understand distribution maps.
- Interface with customers and other company personnel.
- Smell to detect burning materials, natural gas, hazardous substances such as ammonia and solvents and toxic substances found in hazardous wastes.
- Must become company qualified on plastic pipe fusion after attending company schooling.
- Follow company safety practices and policies.

- Undergoes random drug and/or alcohol testing with satisfactory results subject to DOT and company requirements depending on specific job duties.
- Required to wear safety shoes.
- May need to possess, or acquire within a reasonable amount of time, a commercial driver's license depending on specific job duties.
- May be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance to operate DOT-regulated vehicle depending on specific job duties.
- May be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance for working with hazardous materials depending on specific job duties.
- May be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance to wear a respirator and be able to wear respirator as evidenced by satisfactory completion of respirator fit test depending on specific job duties.
- Comply with OSHA annual audiometric testing requirements.
- May be required to become DOT operator-qualified while working in the position depending on specific job duties.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift 100 pounds.
- Cold 51-75%, Heat 51-75%, Radiation 51-75%, Fumes 76-100%, Outdoors 76-100%, Travel 76- 100%, Office Work Environment Up to 25%
- This position may require work on-call, rotating shifts, overtime and work on weekends and holidays, work in extreme cold or hot temperatures on uneven or slippery surfaces. Occasional out-of-town work and overnight may be required
- Some areas involve alternative work schedules including flexible 9 or 4/10 hour day work week.
- Involves work around live gas. Exposure to non-ionizing radiation from welding, flashes and sunburn
- May involve close eye contact work.
- May require long periods of standing or walking.
- Out-of-town work and overnight stays will be required in some departments.
This is a regular full-time position. The successful candidate will receive:

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 100 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to work in tight spaces.
