Lab Assistant - Part Time/Limited Assignment

The Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at UCI School of Medicine consists of numerous faculty (Clinical and Research), other academics, residents, fellows, staff, and volunteer faculty. We seek to advance understanding, prevention, and treatment of psychiatric conditions affecting children, adolescents, and adults through education, training, research, and clinical care.

The incumbent will oversee and contribute to a series of studies on the topics of adolescent development, early life adversity and physical and mental health conditions. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for conducting research on mechanisms associated with obesity, depression and substance use disorders. For these studies, the incumbent will be responsible for recruiting subjects, running the study sessions, collecting and entering data. The incumbent will also contribute to other lab research projects including literature searches for research articles, graphs for presentations and manuscripts.

The incumbent will assist with managing the daily workings of the lab, including scheduling space and research assistants, organizing study materials, ordering materials, recruiting laboratory participants, managing laboratory communication, and troubleshooting problems. The incumbent will also aid in recruiting, hiring, and training volunteers for different laboratory jobs as well as supervising undergraduates affiliated with the lab in research.

Required:

• Experience conducting research
• Professional and effective communication style
• Bachelor's degree

Preferred:

• Experience supervising undergraduates
