The Role

GovExec is seeking a Senior Associate, Event Content to join our dynamic team. The events team drives some of the most impactful experiences in the public sector, bringing together key decision-makers, thought leaders, and industry experts to explore the issues shaping government today. In this role, you will play a key role in shaping event narratives and ensuring content aligns with strategic goals and audience needs. As the Senior Associate, Event Content, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders across editorial, marketing, and client teams to deliver compelling, high-quality programming.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with editorial teams and clients to craft compelling written summaries, event overviews, and agendas that bring journalism to life for public sector audiences.
  • Partner closely with internal teams and clients to transform ideas into dynamic, actionable event content.
  • Research and recommend keynote speakers, panelists, and presenters across a wide range of public sector topics.
  • Lead outreach efforts and coordinate with government public affairs offices to secure high-level speakers for both standalone and multi-part event series.
  • Prepare moderators and speakers through research, briefing materials, and curated question development.
  • Oversee onsite event program execution, ensuring smooth speaker transitions and content delivery.
  • Monitor public sector news, policy developments, and event trends to ensure GovExec programming remains timely, relevant, and impactful.

Additional responsibilities

  • Collaborate with events team members to communicate content priorities and ensure alignment across all aspects of event planning and execution.
  • Coordinate with editorial leadership to set clear goals and facilitate seamless event delivery.
  • Partner with the Events Leadership team to define and manage team-wide content priorities.
  • Lead or support special projects focused on content team development, speaker engagement strategies, and long-term growth initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of professional writing experience, ideally within the events industry or a related content-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with the federal, defense, and/or state and local government sectors is a plus.
  • Excellent proofreading, editing, and storytelling skills with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, fast-moving projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, particularly with external speakers and government affairs teams.
  • Experience collaborating with clients to create tailored content and event programming.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a commitment to high-quality execution and accountability.
  • Confident, persuasive communicator with polished presentation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail across all facets of event planning and content development, both virtual and in-person.

The compensation range for this role is $50,000 to $55,000 per year.
