Description

The Learning & Development Manager will champion HEI efforts to assesses enterprise-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identify and arrange suitable training solutions for employees. He/she will be responsible for actively searching, creatively designing, and implementing effective methods to educate and enhance performance. Additionally, this individual will work alongside HR, L&OD, Operations and enable functional leaders to identify training needs and create strategic solutions for improving both skills and engagement across the organization. The L&D Manager will collaborate with business units to drive project deliverables in the Learning and Organizational Development Department and ensure alignment with strategic business objectives. The L&D Manager will maintain high quality standards in instructional design and development for all methods of program delivery.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Design and develop programs and curriculum, partner with internal subject matter experts and/or external vendors to achieve defined training, learning and development objectives.


  • Collaborate with L&OD and the extended Learning and Development team on solution development and strategy to build capability, upskill and reskill talent, leveraging existing solutions, resources and LMS capabilities
  • Monitor training activities, manage content and provide recommendations for all training solutions based on business needs
  • Develop and maintain L&OD communications such as LMS updates and schedules and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources
  • Develop solutions for ad hoc projects and initiatives in support of organizational needs
  • Establish measurement of the total effectiveness of all projects, programs, and initiatives in L&OD


  • Partner with Head of L&OD to assist in overall L&OD initiatives focused on assessment, development, talent planning, career pathing for specific segments of the business.
  • Travel as needed to regional offices, jobsites, meetings and training events



Instructional Design:



  • Design and develop high quality instructional materials in a variety of learning formats ensuring that learning technologies are leveraged where possible
  • Collaborate on content development with subject matter experts
  • Conduct needs assessments with diverse subject matter experts
  • Align training approach with course objectives and learner needs


  • Design curriculum, programs, and learning solutions as appropriate



Training Delivery:



  • Establish credibility with all audiences: field operations, Operations management, executive team, support service groups, etc.


  • Facilitate learning, encourage participation, and motivate learners
  • Deliver/facilitate learning events in areas of proficiency (behavioral and leadership topics)


Manage Learning Programs:



  • Act as program manager for key learning offerings including driving attendance, onsite and virtual event planning and organization; manage prioritization, resourcing and scheduling of all learning activities
  • Ensure the oversight and coordination of dependencies across the projects and programs in L&OD
  • Communicate and proactively raise issues arising on projects to assure on target deliverables and usage of resources and funding, and to highlight any change of direction issues.


  • Select and manage resources, including working with both internal employees and external vendors where appropriate to develop and deliver training
  • Optimize training processes for efficiency of resource use
  • Manage training budget for programs
  • Evaluate courses and make changes based on feedback


Learning Technology:



  • Use LMS to manage the administration of all training activities and learner data including transcripts, compliance records and certification
  • Develop and test innovative learning solutions within the LMS that provide increased customer value and/or efficiency



Qualifications:



  • 5-7 years of learning and development experience including developing, implementing, and delivering training
  • Excellent project management skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize, manage, and complete projects with tight deadlines.
  • Strong data analysis and marketing skills
  • Strong consultative approach
  • Experience measuring and evaluating impact of learning programs
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy; ability to navigate and learn proactively
  • High degree of customer service working with internal customers from all levels of the organization
  • Experience with learning management systems
  • Self-starter that possesses a strong desire to seek optimal solutions and share discovery with colleagues
  • Capable of performing in a fast-paced environment with measurable results
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite; tech-savvy; agility in learning new systems and software
  • Strong ownership and accountability for work
  • Ability to gather relevant information, seek additional resources if needed, and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to build rapport with employees while demonstrating a high level of professionalism.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Construction industry experience (or manufacturing, engineering or construction adjacent)
  • Experience with course authoring tools (Articulate 360 including Rise & Storyline, Camtasia)
  • Formal coaching certification or experience
  • Experience with Project Manager and Project Engineer training
  • Certifications in learning programs, personal assessments, and other proven learning tools


The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $90,000.00 and $125,000.00 per year. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: location, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits.
