Position Summary

The Market Research Analyst II supports the Hospital's market analysis process to drive volume and build hospital reputation. This role will assess the Hospital's competitive market position and conduct market assessments across the hospital's clinical service lines. Primarily responsible for conducting internal and external primary and secondary research using a variety of data sources to build reports and presentations that support the strategic marketing planning process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Hospital's corporate marketing and national reputation building efforts by assisting in the development of market summaries and analyses of key audiences, segments, and clinical service lines.
  • Assess the Hospital's national competitive position by assisting in creating and updating strategic market studies, data summaries, dashboards, and other reporting assets
  • Serve as a central resource for the research, collection, distribution, and presentation of market insights, market share, and competitive data to internal Boston Children's stakeholders/clients.
  • Provide comprehensive information to support the hospital's response to major national surveys that rank children's hospitals.
  • Prepare data and perform analyses, as required, to support the marketing process. Review and integrate environmental analysis, general market research, and competitor positioning.
  • Assess operational benchmarks and general economic influences. Develop spreadsheets, charts, dashboards, and presentation materials as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain the integrity of strategic market databases and systems.
  • Assist the Hospital's marketing planning efforts by supporting management on related analytical projects.
  • Participate in ad hoc market research projects as needed in support of efforts within the department of marketing and communications project areas, such as writing and content development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in marketing and communications to develop analytical frameworks for market data-related initiatives in order to adapt to changes in the healthcare market.
  • Provide positive and effective customer service that supports the Hospital's standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA degree in finance, economics or marketing; MA degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a business, corporate, academic, healthcare, or non-profit environment.
  • Understanding of survey methodology, questionnaire design, uses and limitations of both quantitative and qualitative research, and primary and secondary data sets.
  • Experience with market research methodologies involving social media data, passive data, and big data strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to inform business objectives and provide insights into key business questions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with colleagues from a range of teams and hospital departments, many of whom may hold conflicting views or priorities. The ability to mediate fair solutions across multiple internal stakeholders in delivering research and analysis projects is also an expected facet of the job.
  • Well-developed writing, presentation, and organization skills.
  • Advanced Excel, statistical analysis, and data modeling skills.
