Asphalt Paving Equipment Operator - AE0625
Sanders Brothers Construction is currently seeking an Asphalt Equipment Operator to support our Charleston, SC area asphalt construction projects. The Asphalt Equipment Operator will play a key role in the company's continued success.
Role And Responsibilities:
The Asphalt Equipment Operator will be responsible for control and operation of one or more types of asphalt paving equipment.
- Ability to perform all duties required of Asphalt Laborer and Operator I which may require use of shovel, lute and/or other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Operates asphalt paving machine, breakdown roller, transfer machine, backhoe, water truck, and widener.
- Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of paving machine that spreads and levels asphalt on roadways and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc.,
- Turns hand-wheels to raise or lower screeds, regulates width of screed
- May perform other related duties, such as installing or removing automatic devices, grade log or other accessories associated with the machinery.
- The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Keep company vehicle, tools and equipment clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns.
- Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures and safety requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- 1-3 years of asphalt equipment operation (Spreader, roller, transfer machine backhoe, water truck, tack truck, widener, paver, mill, lute and broom truck) and related asphalt & road construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.
- Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
- Must meet SBCC's employment standards with regards to background checks.
- The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
