Summary: Assists production personnel with technical questions, inspection equipment, QCPs, blueprint reading, and written instructions; creates operator inspection sheets; serves as an inspector in all areas of production; uses inspection data to create ISIRs and First Article Inspections.

Essential Functions



  1. Capable of completing/training all Quality Technician 1 essential functions.
  2. Identifies problems affecting the production of quality products and works collectively with engineering and operations to solve them.
  3. Capable of managing gauge calibration system and coordinating with outside calibration resources as needed.
  4. Capable of leading off-site sorting activities as needed.
  5. Assists Quality Engineers and Sales with customer visits as needed.
  6. Capable of creating/updating inspection software (PolyWorks) programs as needed.
  7. Capable of participating in audits as needed.
  8. Is a resource for BTD in regard to knowledge of parts, prints, inspection methods, production processes, and any other information affecting the production of quality products.
  9. Adheres to Company values, Quality Policy, and Department work standards.
  10. Complies with BTD's Quality System and processes.


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of technical training or two years of manufacturing or quality experience.

Experience and Skills Required: At least two years of recent BTD manufacturing production/quality experience, or two years of quality experience in similar organizations with similar processes, which includes the following skills and abilities:



  1. Considerable knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods, and practices used in manufacturing operations.
  2. Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 quality assurance systems.
  3. The ability to effectively communicate company standards.
  4. Basic knowledge of improvement methodologies (for example histogram, Pareto, PDCA, root cause analysis).
  5. Considerable knowledge of inspection equipment used in a manufacturing environment.
  6. Working knowledge of gage preservation, calibration, traceability, and correlation.
  7. Working knowledge of computer-aided inspection equipment.
  8. Working knowledge of WINDOWS, MS OFFICE and E-mail.
  9. The skill to identify problems and collectively use available resources to solve them.
  10. Working knowledge of corrective and preventive actions.
  11. The ability to understand, follow and issue routine oral and written instructions.
  12. The ability to perform basic math and trigonometry functions.
  13. The ability to accurately read, understand and interpret blueprints (including GD&T) and specifications.
  14. The ability to establish, encourage and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  15. An understanding of the importance of a safe work environment.
  16. The ability to be a technical resource for Level I Quality Technicians.

Compensation Salary Range: OTC5: $22.78 - $31.89. The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(K) match, etc.
