Discipline Description

Quality Engineering personnel apply engineering principles to ensure products and processes meet quality standards. They design and implement quality control systems, develop test methods and protocols, and analyze engineering data to identify defects and areas for improvement. They ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, requirements, and contribute to continuous engineering improvement of quality systems and methodologies.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

As a Weapon Quality Engineer, you will participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures, and applications that contribute to sustaining an effective engineering, procurement, and program Weapon Quality Management System. You will serve as the primary point of contact for nonconformance reporting and corrective action processes. With comprehensive experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating processes, procedures, and applications geared towards an effective Weapon Quality Management Plan, you will review various technical documents and drawings to ensure completeness and compliance, and you will also evaluate schematics associated with building and infrastructure projects.
Leveraging extensive experience in successfully leading and engaging people, you will utilize strong interpersonal skills to facilitate communication, negotiate agreements, collaborate effectively, and build consensus among stakeholders. Your role will also involve driving fact-based decisions through data and risk-based analysis related to complex technical issues. Additionally, you will possess advanced knowledge and experience with key quality documents and standards such as NNSA weapon Quality Policy NAP 401.1A, DOE Order Quality Assurance 414.1D, and SD 452.3-1A Defense Programs Business Process System. This expertise will enable you to contribute effectively to maintaining high-quality standards in engineering, procurement, and construction projects.
You will bring a bachelors degree in an applicable science or engineering discipline, with an advanced knowledge of your discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles, and techniques. You will have working knowledge of pertinent engineering practices and applications, experience in design, development, manufacturing, inspection, and testing products, and proficiency in interpreting drawings and specifications to communicate information effectively. Additionally, you will have experience interpreting quality assurance data to determine if products are within specifications and tolerances. Your practical knowledge of the NNSA weapon Quality Policy NAP 401.1A, DOE Order Quality Assurance 414.1D, and SD 452.3-1A Defense Programs Business Process System, along with requirements flow-down and tracking, and familiarity with the NNSA product acceptance process, methods, and requirements will be essential.
This mid-career position will support a Weapon Quality Program at SRS. The successful candidate(s) will perform weapon quality and product acceptance activities, including reviewing objective data to ensure design and quality requirements are met, maintaining procedures, identifying issues, implementing continuous improvements, and evaluating processes, procedures, and applications that support the Weapon Quality Programs.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field

Security Clearance Information
