Spectrum Brands currently operates three segments: Global Pet Care, Home & Garden, and Home & Personal Care (HPC). This role is part of the HPC team, which manages such trusted brands as Remington, Black & Decker, George Foreman, PowerXL, Emeril Lagasse, and others.

Job Summary

The National Account Manager will manage all activities related to sales and relationship with Wal-Mart, in Bentonville, AR. The National Account Manager is responsible for implementing sales strategies and setting account objectives that will strengthen the existing relationship and support the sales objectives of Spectrum Brands. Data driven actions, strong relationship management, and negotiation skills are critical in building and maintaining healthy relationships with key customers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the sales strategy plans to ultimately achieve sales objectives including utilization of customer and market data to identify assortment opportunities for your account
  • Develop sales strategies, programs and plans for existing and potential new business with Wal-Mart. Develop annual quota, profit plan and sales action plan and monitor actual results vs. plan throughout the year
  • Develop/manage account-specific promotional plan, coordinating with finance, trade marketing, marketing and sales management to align with brand strategies and advertising plans as appropriate. Recommend opportunities for increased penetration, based on knowledge of customer and category.
  • Own the line review process. Collaborate with internal teams to develop a compelling story to present to buyers that sells our brand and land new placements at Walmart
  • Conduct numerous face-to-face meetings with buying teams and develop strong relationships
  • Coordinate with demand planning team to align on item level forecasts to support the S&OP process
  • Utilize market and consumer data to drive decisions and conversations both with Walmart and internally at Spectrum Brands
  • Effectively collaborates with others to reach mutually agreeable outcomes and to resolve potential conflicts

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field required
  • 5+ direct sales/field experience with Walmart
  • Proven experience in managing key accounts and achieving sales targets over $100M
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to analyze market data and develop strategic plans to increase sales revenue
  • Strong analytical skills to allow for fact-based selling
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with customers and internal teams
