Salary: From $22.95 per hour including night shift differential

Shift: Monday -Thursday 5pm-330am. Possible overtime on Fridays and Saturdays. Attendance bonuses and discounts on products!

Job Summary

The Set-Up Tech must be strongly mechanically inclined and have some mechanical experience. They change product, size, and machine tooling, troubleshoot and fix unpredictable problems, and support Continuous Improvement initiatives. They perform operator preventative maintenance, acquire QA samples, and ensure safe and efficient production while maintaining good housekeeping. They collaborate with the team to improve line uptime and efficiencies, complete preventive maintenance, and lead or assist with special projects. They are also responsible for filling in for the generalist when necessary. The Set-Up Tech must be able to handle stress well and maintain a calm demeanor while troubleshooting unpredictable problems and making adjustments to production machinery.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Model the Spectrum Brands Values and Beliefs to achieve service excellence, meet and exceed organizational objectives and support fiscal responsibility.
  • Set up and make adjustments to various production machines.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery and/or equipment to diagnose malfunctions using a variety of tools/testing devices.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix problems that are unpredictable, such as operator mistake or equipment malfunction.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all relevant equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Under minimal supervision, ensure that production machines are running safely, efficiently, and producing quality products.
  • Participate in developing and monitoring procedures to improve line uptime and efficiencies.
  • Use manuals, job aids and/or guidelines to complete preventive maintenance and minor repairs to production equipment.
  • Effectively allocate and manage resources to ensure department priorities are supported.
  • Responsible for maintaining value added communication between shifts, within department and team members.
  • Assists in the effort to continuously improve processes efficiencies through implementation of new technology/machines, simplification and the elimination of barriers, and non-value-added activities.
  • Maintain good housekeeping, adhere to all company rules policies and procedures, and proactively identify unsafe conditions.
  • Collaborate with the Team Coordinator, Supervisor and Maintenance for line and/or equipment improvements.
  • Lead or assist with packaging validations, component line trials, and special projects.
  • Work with associates in team effort to further company goals concerning safety, quality, production, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • May be required to work in other departments as necessitated by business needs.


Education and Experience Profile

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • One year of experience in manufacturing is preferred.
  • Ability to handle stress well and maintain a calm demeanor.

Required Skills

  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have basic computer skills.


Work Environment

Repetitive movements required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds with or without assistance. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must wear all prescribed PPE including, but not limited to hearing protection, safety glasses, respirator, and steel toed shoes.

Otherwise, working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
