Job Description/Essential Functions: |
Bevilacqua Research Corporation (BRC) is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned, Small Business based in Huntsville, Alabama incorporated in 1992. BRC provides "best-value" technical and management solutions to a diverse government and commercial customer base in the following key business areas: test & evaluation, systems analysis & integration, security & intelligence, and R&D. This position will provide support in developing training material and technical documentation such as technical manuals (TM), bill of materials (BOM), provisioning parts lists (PPL), as well as program level documents such as life-cycle sustainment plans (LCSP) and maintenance plans (MP). Maintains engineering databases using industry standard software and data derived from technical data packages (TDP). Responsibilities:
- Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation
- Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers
- Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions
- Organize and write supporting documents for products
- Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users' understanding
- Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos
- Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers
- Revise documents as new issues arise
- Review materials for clarity, punctuation, grammar, and standardized content; work closely with researchers and developers
- Provide Technical Writing in support of Life Cycle Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) products in the form of Technical Manuals (TM), Training, and Allowance Parts Lists (APL) for government sponsored systems
- Use Microsoft Office to develop equipment maintenance and support products.
- Review materials for clarity, punctuation, grammar, and content; work closely with designers and manufacturer
- Perform informational research and gathering of vendor spec sheets to be used as Engineering Data for Provisioning (EDFP)
- Participate in Maintenance Demonstrations and procedure validations of designed equipment

Minimum Requirements: |
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in technical documentation writing and editing.
- Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
- Excellent written skills in English
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must be a self-starter and able to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills are required

Desired Experience: |
- Undergraduates' degree in journalism, communications, business, logistics, English, applied science, mathematics, engineering or other fields
- Experience in reading engineering drawings and/or working with engineering teams
- Experience developing procedures and/or other forms of technical documentation such as Technical Manuals, Bills of Materials (BOM's), Associated Parts Lists (APL's), Identifying Support and Test Equipment (S&TE), and detailing PHS&T requirements, etc.
- Experience or willingness to learn DoD Logistics search engine tools for provisioning (i.e., PUB LOG)
