Primary Purpose:

Maintain electric distribution system to assure continuity of service, prepare, check, and direct orders for electric distribution system switching operations and controls; operate electric supervisory control devices; perform substation switching; direct service restoration activities; maintain records and operating diagrams; document system operating map updates; prepare reports; perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Wage Schedule:

1st year: $68.19 per hour

2nd year: $77.78 per hour

Thereafter: $82.18 per hour

Required Qualifications:



  • A minimum of 18 months experience as a Transmission or Distribution System Operator.
  • Must understand basic electrical circuits involving voltage, current and power.
  • Must have knowledge of construction and apparatus for transmission and distribution lines and substations.
  • Must have knowledge of switching authorization procedures and steps required for the issuance of switching authorizations.
  • Must have knowledge of restoration procedure of high voltage lines after service has been interrupted.
  • Must be proficient in reading System Operating Diagrams, control and protection notes, GIS based paper and computer distribution circuit maps, and operating procedures.
  • Must have typing ability and be able to work with basic PC software (email, internet, Microsoft office applications).
  • Must be able to distinguish red, blue and green colors.
  • Must be willing to work shift work including weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Must have ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Must have good safety habits.
  • Must have good attendance record.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to absorb formal training and schooling.
  • Must pass company assessments.



This is a Union Represented position - Represented by Local IBEW 465.

OFFICE: Work onsite at a company facility due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
