Join Our Team as a Therapist - In Training!

Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI (LSS) is looking for a dedicated and passionate Bilingual Therapist, Licensed or In Training, to join our School Centered Mental Health team. This position will require fluency in Spanish.

About the School Centered Mental Health (SCMH) program

School Centered Mental Health is a school, in home, and community based program designed to support the mental health needs of children as well as families. The SCMH model includes 7 dimensions, School Partnerships, Therapy, Health Navigation, Research and Assessment, Family Coaching, Behavioral Interventions, and Training and Education. Our services reach beyond traditional school based mental health programs to include trauma-informed therapy, family coaching, behavior interventions and education/training and assessment.

As a Therapist with School Centered Mental Health, you will:



  • Provide individual, couples, family, and/or group psychotherapy services to adult and/or child/minor clients in a school, office, out-of-home care setting and/or home setting.
  • Conduct assessments of client needs using clinical interview, objective diagnostic tools, and collateral contacts.
  • Develop treatment plans collaboratively with clients and other providers.
  • Attend client/recovery team meetings.
  • Attend and participate in staff development programs, including in-service training, staff meetings, and professional seminars.
  • Participate in clinical supervision meetings as required to meet best practice and licensure standards.
  • Work a flexible weekly schedule that may include some evening and/or weekend hours for client appointments.



Essential Skills and Qualifications



  • Background Check Required
  • Education: A completed Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related program is required.
  • Experience: Practicum experience, through your degree program, related to services LSS provides is required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Eligibility for the in training or full license to practice as a therapist by meeting criteria set by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
  • Language: This position requires fluency in Spanish and will require the candidate to complete a language proficiency test during the hiring process.

  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF): Eligible for loan forgiveness after 10 years of on-time payments through an income-based repayment plan.


  • Licensure and Exam Fees

    • If the employee has been with LSS for 1 year prior, they will receive full reimbursement for licensure and/or exam costs for your first attempt. LSS also pays for bi-annual renewals.
    • If the employee is considered part-time, LSS will pay for half of the associated licensure and exam costs for your first attempt. LSS also pays for bi-annual renewals.




    • It is required for your position to maintain a state license in a mental health or substance abuse related field.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
