Position Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer will support PMW 760 and have responsibility for acquisition, cost, schedule and performance management and systems engineering support to AEGIS Ashore Baseline programs. The SE will assist in those activities necessary to administer the execution of the overall scope of this task, including providing the appropriate level of engineering oversight across the PEO C4I / Commander, Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (COMNAVWAR) Enterprise to ensure coordinated integration of Navy C4I programs to support AEGIS Ashore platform requirements. The SE will support production, installation, interoperability planning, assessment, and analysis efforts for the AEGIS Ashore platform. This task will include those SE activities necessary to execute timely responses to resolve emergent and/or non-emergent C4I issues that are determined to have an adverse impact on AEGIS Ashore requirements and the program's schedule.

Responsibilities


  • Perform on-site technical assists System Operational Verification Tests (SOVT) for various C4I systems at AEGIS Ashore sites.
  • Participate in integrated product teams and engineering/design reviews.
  • Assist design team to perform, prepare, review, analyze, and modify system designs, technical documents and data packages for Tactical Data Link (TDL) systems to ensure customer requirements are satisfied.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team environment as well as independently and provide direct interface with customers.
  • Assist with engineering analysis, designing solutions to system obsolete hardware and providing all appropriate documentation and drawings associated with delivery for production.
  • Directs and works with an engineering team to develop solutions to customer requirements, and facilitates resolutions where conflicts arise.
  • Familiar with standard engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates reliable experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Work with product PMW's to understand system interface requirements in the technical interchange meetings for modular cabinet designs.
  • Support the preparation of engineering strategies, assist the development of program schedules, and ensure the product codes are developing engineering products that support modular cabinet design and timely delivery of required technical artifacts for future ships platforms.
  • Familiarity with NIWC SETR, PDR, and CDR processes and have supported such events for system design.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Education/Licensure/Credentials

Required:


  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in engineering or technical field
  • This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret Level. Individual must be able to maintain the necessary security clearance/eligibility for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship is required.


Experience
Required:


  • Mandatory 4+ year's working in an engineering capacity designing C4I systems
  • Experience working in an engineering capacity in a DOD, military or government agency environment
  • Proficiency Experience and understanding of NIWC engineering design processes, system requirements analysis, and have participated in Configuration Control Boards for C4ISR Engineering Changes
  • Extensive working knowledge of AEGIS Weapons, TDL systems and/or C4ISR technologies.



Preferred:


  • 5+ years engineering experience working for a DoD organization
  • Bachelor of Science degree in related technical/engineering field
