DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
In this role, you will safeguard the resources of the Tiadaghton State Forest and maintain its facilities. Your responsibilities will include grading forest roads with a road grader to achieve the required surface quality, as well as operating loaders to handle various materials like shale and rocks. You will also use bulldozers to create fire breaks in line with wildfire management standards and assist in agricultural tasks to prepare land for vegetation. Additionally, you will groom snowmobile trails and maintain forest roads by removing debris and preparing seed beds. Your duties will extend to operating various vehicles, including trucks for transporting equipment and materials to different sites. You will perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment, while also supporting mechanics with more significant repairs. Furthermore, you will engage in a range of maintenance tasks for public facilities, such as cleaning culverts, seeding roads, and maintaining boundary lines, utilizing tools like chain saws as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Seasonal, full-time employment without benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2026.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Friday with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires that employees in this class have a commercial driver's license (CDL) and any endorsements required to operate specific equipment, in order to meet operational needs.
Other Requirements:
