Job Description

Prepare and complete tax returns and reports involved with federal, state, local, and other tax liabilities. Responsible for meeting all required deadlines. Maintain current knowledge of all tax laws affecting the company. Review proposals for tax implications and recommend actions that meet the business plans while managing the tax liability. Assist in tax audits. Prepare tax provisions for financial statements. Conduct tax research and planning as requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete professional tax accounting activities for an organization.
  • Set up and retain the organization's tax records.
  • File tax returns and prepare related reports.
  • Provide assistance with the FAS 109 analysis.
  • Provide assistance with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Provide tax audit assistance for federal, state, and local tax audits.
  • Prepare federal and state quarterly estimates and extensions.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of federal and state income tax laws, legislation, and current developments.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to solve somewhat more complex problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job.
  • Must be able to recognize anomalies and critical situations and respond appropriately.
  • Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at the level of detail required to resolve issues of moderate complexity.
  • Able to apply strong functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other technical tools in completing assignments.
  • May require knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn specialized software to complete work assignments.
  • Able to demonstrate continued expertise in the primary tools or applications used in completing daily work assignments.
  • Requires very good communication skills with the ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand.
  • Must be able to proactively listen to others to understand issues and situations.
  • Must be able to clearly articulate business needs to both internal and external customers.
  • Bachelor's degree in discipline related to function of work with 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • CPA/MS in Taxation is preferred
