We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Design Release Engineer to lead the development and release of Valvetrain and Timing Drive components for gasoline engines. This role involves full lifecycle engineering-from concept and design through testing, manufacturing support, and failure analysis. You will collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure robust, cost-effective, and high-performance solutions.
Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the design, development, and release of components including camshafts, camshaft phasers systems, rocker arms, valves, valve seat and guide inserts, valve springs, timing chains, guides, and tensioners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Engine Plants, Designers, and Service.
  • Plan and coordinate testing activities using tools such as DFMEA and DVP&R, and track progress and results.
  • Analyze test and measurement data, summarize findings, and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Support product improvement initiatives, cost reduction efforts, and root cause analysis for field and manufacturing issues.
  • Travel occasionally to engine plants and supplier locations as needed.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related degree field
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience preferably in valvetrain systems
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engine components and systems
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master of Science degree
  • Experience with automotive engine systems and component release processes
  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as DFMEA, DVP&R, and Teamcenter software
  • Hands-on experience with testing and failure analysis
