Primary Purpose

Supports the planning, organization and implementation of space planning, product procurement and other interiors work for Parkland Health and Hospital System to ensure project alignment with departmental needs, hospital system requirements and applicable codes.

Education:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, or a related degree.

Experience:

  • Experience in furniture and equipment, preferred.
  • Experience in a large, complex healthcare organization, preferred.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

  • N/A

Skills or Special Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of furniture, equipment and hospital standards for these items.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of healthcare systems furniture,
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and willing to learn procurement, project management and space management software.
  • Must be professional, self-motivated and able to communicate issues in a clear and timely manner.
  • Must have a portfolio to demonstrate recent school and/or professional work.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supports the planning, organization and implementation of space planning, product procurement and other interiors work for Parkland Health and Hospital System to ensure project alignment with departmental needs, hospital system requirements and applicable codes.
  2. Meets with hospital personnel and establishes positive relationships focused on customer service and satisfaction.
  3. Supports interior design projects such as artwork, furniture and graphics, though the procurement and selection of quality products.
  4. Coordinates all aspects of moves, including field investigation, technology, communications, storage, asset protection, product delivery scheduling, and punch list development.
  5. Requests and receives quotes from vendors and service providers. Reviews quotes to ensure they are accurate and complete.
  6. Receives and processes invoices in collaboration with Program Managers, Accounts Payable and Receiving.
  7. Maintains and organizes finishes, furniture and fixture library. Meets with vendors to ensure current product availability and knowledge of industry trends.
  8. Performs data entry, computer file organization, large format printing, space management and other miscellaneous tasks related to planning, design and construction.
  9. Generates requests for proposals or qualifications and evaluates respondents for value and suitability.

Job Accountabilities

  1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
