Job Description

IPG Photonics Corporation is seeking a Technical Account Specialist - Laser Systems in San Jose, CA

Engage with customers for laser material processing system projects; Gather application requirements, identify business opportunities, and promote IPG's technology; Direct customer application workflow for sample processing and determine product-application fit; Coordinate sample delivery, relay technical requirements, and communicate results; Manage system proposal workflows; Support internal teams by presenting customer requirements, participating in design reviews, and presenting proposals to customers; Maintain project schedules, balancing internal workflows and customer deadlines to prioritize; Work with relevant sales manager to negotiate proposals with client commercial teams, utilizing competitive intelligence to close projects effectively; Prospect for new business opportunities by supporting regional marketing efforts and identifying areas for product improvement. 25% travel required; up to 20% remote work allowed when not traveling; must live within normal commuting distance of San Jose, CA and near a major airport.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent degree
  • 3 yrs of related experience


Required Skills:



  • Analyze customer-provided data including engineering drawings and tolerances to determine process feasibility and equipment suitability, referencing industrial knowledge standards such as ASME and EPA Baghouse
  • Define application scope based on customer inputs, evaluate and communicate test data, and make materials or mechanical recommendations to manufacturing team assisting with process planning
  • Specify and recommend equipment configurations by integrating industrial design concepts (referencing ASME standards), product specifications, and customer factory requirements (equipment location, sizing, connections and interaction with upstream machinery etc.)
  • Estimate system fabrication and delivery costs based on structural/functional material requirements, manufacturing process requirements, lead times, and vendor cost structures
  • Research market trends and consumer demands to identify profitable new products and system sub-components for integration into company's product portfolio.
  • 25% travel required
  • Up to 20% remote work allowed when not traveling
  • Must live within normal commuting distance of San Jose, CA and near a major airport

  • Full time. $139,256- $140,000/year. Competitive compensation and benefits.
