Position Highlights

The Department of Immunobiology is seeking a highly motivated applicant for the position of Research Technician III in the Kuhns Lab, in collaboration with the Van Doorslaer Lab. This challenging position requires a high level of enthusiasm, dedication, and drive for applicants interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms that drive T cell activation (pubmed search: Kuhns MS).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Generation of DNA constructs and cell lines using conventional molecular biology and tissue culture techniques.
  • Assist with experiments of other research staff periodically.
  • Ensure compliance with lab procedures, protocols, and quality control.
  • Provide recommendations on SOPs, procedures, techniques, protocols, and methodologies to fit specific research experiment requirements.
  • Assist with and organize the set-up of laboratory experiments and equipment and animal enrichment.
  • Conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and document the results of experiments.
  • Use data to prepare summary reports in a clear and efficient manner for use in lab meetings, grant submissions, and publications.
  • Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation and lab equipment.
  • Order reagents and perform mouse husbandry as needed.

  • Organizational skills
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with basic tissue culture.
  • Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry.
  • Experience with Mouse husbandry/handling.
  • Experience in basic computational skills.
