Position Highlights

The Sarver Heart Center invites applications for Financial Analyst (Financial Analyst II). Successful candidates will possess advanced knowledge in accounting and grant administration, as well as having strong analytical and organizational skills. The Financial Analyst provides post-award services related to research grants management including reporting, financial projections, account reconciliation, collaborating with principal investigators and other research staff to ensure compliance with sponsor regulations, and sub-award administration. This position manages faculty and staff salary allocations, monitors budgets, reconciles data, produces financial reports, and manages accounts for the Sarver Heart Center. This is an exciting opportunity to provide financial support to the faculty and staff of the Center, which has been at the forefront of groundbreaking discoveries and innovative therapies in the field of cardiovascular medicine and science for almost 40 years.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists with All Funds Budget Preparation
  • Provide fiscal responsibility for assigned UA and UAF accounts to ensure accuracy and financial compliance, budget development, expense management, financial analysis, and reporting. This includes preparing one-pagers, grant, and clinical trial reports.
  • Communicates and implements financially sound budgets for research projects.
  • Provide guidance to Sarver staff on best practices, financial policies and procedures.
  • Reconciliation and report generation of all Sarver accounts, including UA Foundation.
  • Directly monitors and maintains compliance for pre- and post-award of grants, contracts, and subcontracts. Including review of effort certifications, final reports, RPPRs, etc.
  • Initiate Position Distributions, SETs, and GECs. Create and Maintain Funding Plans and Master DOE file.
  • Create perm files and complete checklist for new KFS accounts. Includes operationalizing new grant awards.
  • P-Card Reconciler. Monthly reconciliation of P-Card documentation to credit card statements; submit documentation and monthly reports to the Financial Services Compliance Office.
  • Prepare DVs, POs, IDBs, and UA Foundation documents, etc. for the Center.
  • Annually archive/records Management - includes sort/data entry/move & organize boxes. Archival of electronic records.
  • Submit service requests, renovation estimates, etc. through Facilities Management.
  • Responsible for requesting and removing keyless entry, requesting keys, updating Amer-X entry hours.
  • Facilitate space requests, update Center space occupancy to UAHS Planning and Facilities.
  • Act as the liaison for Center assets and surplus transfers. Tracking of capital inventory and other department assets including submitting surplus requests, and ensuring that assets are tagged.
  • Center liaison to UITS; requesting phones, ethernet ports, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of UA and UA Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups and individuals and via multiple methods (written, verbal, in-person, and virtual).
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Suite applications (Outlook, Excel, Access).
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve various problems or issues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on complexity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience is required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UA Systems including UAccess Analytics and UAccess Financials.
  • Advanced experience with spreadsheet and database applications including Excel and Access.
  • Experience working with budgeted funds in a research or public service setting.
