The Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the monthly demands of updating, designing, development, and testing of Indirect Tax compliance projects assigned to them using in-house development tools. This includes the analysis of sales and use tax rendition requirements. This also includes the collection, analysis, and prioritization of requirements from taxing authorities, Professional Services, Support, customers, and other sources. The Senior Business Systems Analyst is also responsible for second-line support of their projects, as well as the development of related Help System and supporting documentation.

About the Role

  • Collect, analyze, and prioritize requirements from taxing authorities, marketing, support, customers, and other sources all to enhance the most reliable tax software in the industry.
  • Develop training materials and provide training/mentoring to Tax Research & Content Associates and Analysts
  • Define complex projects including but not limited to: State & Federal projects
  • Writing applicable online help Coordinate work with other departments
  • Ensure and implement consistency standards
  • Assist in the design and development of new projects outside the core application
  • Ensure quality products by providing the following: Test programs for technical accuracy and cosmetic appearance Develop and maintain testing documentation books
  • Create program change requests, update control sheets and resolve issues with Systems Engineers Review and correct projects to ensure they are accurate, clear and concise
  • Suggest and implement product enhancements
  • Provide technical assistance and client support including but not limited to:
    • Answering technical questions
    • Responding to client requests and inquiries
    • Responding to project escalations
  • Research, analyze, interpret, and document tax laws and regulations over a wide range of industries in complex and demanding jurisdictions
  • Anticipate and assess the impact of proposed regulatory developments to stay ahead of changes in laws and regulations impacting applications
  • Model and implement support for new tax regimes; implement content changes; complete work within prescribed content deadlines
  • Correspond with tax authorities on complex and contradictory matters
  • Research, respond and resolve client issues in partnership with Customer Support
  • Contribute to the development of requirements for tax application features and functionality in partnership with Product Management

About You

  • Expertise in FADS and Idesign is a must.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • MBA or CPA/Chartered Tax Adviser and/or computer science or related field preferred.
  • Sales and Use, 1040, 1120, or 1065 tax return preparation experience preferred
  • Fluency in languages other than English

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $70,000 - $130,000.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
