Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose
The Tiger Dance Coach strives to provide superior fan engagement and contributes to the overall effort to get fans and students involved with school spirit. The Tiger Dance Coaches' primary function is to lead and mentor our Tiger Dance team. This Coach will be responsible for teaching and managing the Tiger Dance team in practices, home games, as well as an annual trip to the WCC Championships. The team is also expected to host at least one fundraiser a year.
Essential Functions

  • Coach and mentor the Tiger Dance team.
  • Choreograph and teach routines to the team.
  • Host/Supervise auditions for new members and replace Dancers if they are unable to complete routines as required.
  • Monitor progress of team members, vary instruction to meet the needs of individual dancers.
  • In cooperation with Marketing and Promotions manage the team schedule and in game queuing for routines and walk-out songs for home games and the WCC championships.
  • Manage the Tiger Dance team budget for uniforms, supplies and travel. The Coach may also be required to fundraise on an annual basis to accomplish overall budgetary goals for the program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of experience coaching dance at the collegiate level.

  • Good physical health to perform essential functions.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to stand/remain at post for long periods of time.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Heavy lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds. Bending, stretching, and reaching requires. Some sitting and climbing, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended time. Possible contact with chemicals, loud noises, and confined spaces.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Must be willing to work odd hours, nights and weekends.

Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range $20-$25 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
