Position Summary:
Synergy is seeking aDatabase Warehouse Specialist to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at the Aviation Logistics Center (ALC)-Information Systems Division (ISD). The Database Warehouse Specialist plays a critical role in designing, developing, andmaintaining secure and optimized data warehouse environments to support logistics, maintenance, supply chain, and financial reporting across the USCG enterprise.
The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in database warehousing, data modeling, ETL processes, and DevSecOps toolchains, with a strong understanding of Agile development methodologies and federal cybersecurity compliance standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data warehouses, data marts, and reporting structures that support mission-critical operational and analytical requirements.
  • Implement efficient ETL processes to collect, transform, and load data from multiple source systems into centralized repositories.
  • Create and manage database schema designs, data dictionaries, metadata definitions, and entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Optimize data storage, indexing strategies, and partitioning for performance and scalability across large datasets.
  • Integrate data warehousing solutions with reporting and BI tools, including SAS Viya, Cognos, and Framework Manager, to support dashboards and analytics.
  • Apply data governance practices to enforce data quality, lineage, access control, and retention policies across structured and semi-structured datasets.
  • Support database security remediation activities based on vulnerability scans and STIG compliance standards.
  • Participate in Agile sprint cycles and contribute to collaborative development using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Kubernetes within a DevSecOps framework.
  • Document data warehouse configurations, change logs, standard operating procedures, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Collaborate with software developers, cybersecurity teams, and system engineers to align data infrastructure with evolving enterprise architecture and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies, cloud-based warehousing trends, and industry best practices to support modernization efforts.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Experience with data warehouse design principles, dimensional modeling, and data integration across complex enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and procedural programming in platforms such as Oracle, Ingres, or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong understanding of ETL frameworks, data governance, and data normalization techniques.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps development environments, including version control and sprint planning.
  • Experience in applying vulnerability remediation strategies based on Tenable or similar scan tools.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Two (2) years of directly relevant experience may substitute for one (1) year of formal education.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Data Warehousing.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of of performing security remediation to systems with vulnerabilities based on security scans.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an Agile DevSecOps software and engineering environment and Methodologies.
  • Minimum of one (1) years of experience with Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
  • Experience supporting federal government systems, particularly within DHS or DoD environments, is strongly preferred.
Clearance:
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a Position of Public Trust or DoD Secret Clearance.
Certification Requirement
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Additional certifications (Network+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, ITIL Foundation, or other similar certifications) are a plus.

Compensation for roles at Synergy varies depending on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to the requirements of the role; education and certifications; knowledge, training, skills and abilities; level of experience; geographic location; and alignment with market data, law, and other business and organizational needs. As required by local law, the posted pay range represents the lowest to the highest pay that Synergy believes in good faith it might pay for this particular job, depending on the circumstances. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Essential Job Function Physical Requirements:The physical requirements of this position are critical in evaluating the qualifications and abilities of an applicant or employee. The physical efforts needed to perform the essential duties of this job 90% of the time are repetitive motions, grasping, holding, and finger dexterity of the hands, reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, color distinction, and full visual abilities, hearing, talking, sitting, and use of IT equipment, phones, and office machines.
