JOB TITLE: Distribution Engineer REQUISITION: DIS00U6 DEPARTMENT: Distribution Engineering - F&M Service Center LOCATION: Kansas City, MO PAY RANGE: Engineer I: $66,300 - $82,900 - $99,500 Engineer II: $81,000 - $101,200 - $121,400 Staff Engineer: $90,500 - $113,100 - $135,700 Sr Engineer: $91,600 - $122,100 - $152,600 Lead Engineer: $107,900 - $143,800 - $179,800 Principal Engineer: $112,500 - $150,000 - $187,500 Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required) Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Under general supervision of the Manager, Distribution Engineering, the Distribution Engineer will provide day to day and future planning support for Evergy's distribution system. To ensure the future reliability of the grid, the Distribution Engineer develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, and budgets. Provides consultation and recommendations to various Company business units and/or customers based on studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles, or facilities. Collects and compiles financial data for budgeting and actual costs of projects. Provides day-to-day support of the distribution system by developing switching instructions for transferring load between substations and circuits, as well as performing voltage studies, protective device coordination studies, motor start studies, power factor correction, circuit lockout investigations, storm damage assessment, and power quality investigations, among other duties. Ability to operate independently but seeks guidance when appropriate. *
Performs well-defined engineering assignments exercising independent discretion. (e.g., collect data, perform complex analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and clearly present a recommendation to management). *
Performs complex engineering assignments. (e.g., analyze and interpret the results of complex power flows and perform complex electrical tests, and analyze non-specific and ambiguous results). *
Provides technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes. (e.g., verify and validate studies, blueprints or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices). *
Evaluates, develops, and implements projects that have moderate financial and operational impact. *
Effectively communicates with internal and external customers with a wide range of technical knowledge.
