Position Purpose

The primary purpose of the NEO-WIN Impact Advisor position is to provide academic services to existing students including proactive academic advising, facilitation registration, supporting the vibrant Stark State Nursing Department and activities for Stark State College students. This position will serve as a primary contact for all aspects of Academic Advising for the students pursuing a career along the nursing pathway and will aid in student persistence, completion, goal setting, and addressing student needs for success. This is a grant funded position. The grant currently has an end date of 6/30/2028.

You'll Be a Great Fit If:

  • You have at least two years of full-time work experience in an educational nursing program;
  • You are highly skilled at advising and documenting student interactions concerning degree and career requirements, course selection, academic status, and class expectations in support of student goals and academic program requirements;
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using Starfish to monitor NEO-WIN student advisees;
  • You can proactively provide and administer NEO-WIN project wraparound supports to student advisees; and
  • You have the ability to refer student advisees to both internal and external resources to seek assistance for personal counseling, health issues, or other student support needs.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Proactively advising student interactions concerning degree and career requirements, course selection, academic status, and class expectations in support of student goals and academic program requirements.
  • Serving a cohort of students enrolled in the full variety of Stark State College Nursing Programs via scheduled appointments and drop-in advising.
  • Completing intake assessment and goal setting form with all NEO-WIN project student advisees.
  • Effectively informing student advisees of academic policies and procedures as needed.
  • Assisting student advisees with registration of classes.
  • Developing and maintaining a cooperative relationship with other Student Services staff, instructional faculty, Career Services staff, and NEO-WIN project staff to facilitate information exchange.
  • Supporting the NEO-WIN evaluation team by adhering to study protocols and supporting data collection.

To Be Considered You Need:

  • A minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • To be an unencumbered Registered Nurse with full and unrestricted license to practice by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time work experience in an educational nursing program.
  • Strong interpersonal communications and writing skills to deal effectively with various Stark State College and community stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in organizing several projects with multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to accommodate day, evening, weekend, and online students. Regular schedule may vary based on office and student need and could occasionally include Saturday hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of full-time work experience in Stark State College's Nursing Program.
