Position Description
Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Application Engineer must ensure that all reasonable customer requirements are met with regards to specific and specialized engineering needs. Requires a high level of communication skill to present an efficient and courteous presence for the customer. Additional production and product development projects will add a level of integration into the complete sales/production process. The incumbent will gain sales and marketing knowledge along with specific heat transfer engineering to qualify him/her for potential opportunities as a Business Development Manager or Field Sales Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- This position serves Commercial Coil Product's heat transfer customers through both our Field Sales Reps and through contact with a base of direct house account customers.
- The primary responsibility is to provide the necessary technical assistance to support Sales and Marketing while building relationships with our customers and providing manageable project assistance for product development and production engineering requests.
- The incumbent will be called upon in his/her daily activities to assist in the selection of heat transfer products specific to applications and/or materials of construction.
- The candidate should have a working knowledge of heat transfer science to assist in application selections and design.
- He/she will be trained in and expected to use in-house software developed for this purpose.
- Incumbent will be required to participate in the review process when large or special applications are involved. The Approval process will include responsibilities such as heat transfer engineering and product engineering.
- Will be required to develop pricing and quotations based on selected designs.
- He/she will be responsible for supplying sufficient information for the preparation of drawings for both submittal and production.
- Other duties might include assisting with the resolution of quality issues and providing sufficient information for our production managers to ensure that proposed project designs are consistent with our production methods.
- Limited travel to customer sites and to industry trade shows may be required, no more than 5%.
- Candidate will perform ASME Code calculations, as necessary and support ASME certification.
- Candidate will support ISO requirements and assist where needed to maintain ISO certification.
- He/She will support on-going maintenance of Design Manuals and Software including completion of testing protocols to validate software performance.
Required Education & Qualifications
- BS/BA in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Chemical or Industrial Engineering or other technically oriented degree or experience considered.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Must be energetic with a drive to grow responsibilities within the sales organization.
- Must be able to work independently while still being team-oriented in a high performance team environment.
- Working knowledge of Heat Transfer principles.
- Well-versed in Microsoft Office programs i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, as well as MathCad.
- Knowledge of common drafting platforms is a plus.
- Knowledge of ASME Code requirements and calculations also a plus.
