Please Note: This requisition will fill WHS Specialist positions in the Metro Detroit area at the following manufacturing sites: Dundee Engine Plant; Sterling Heights Assembly Plant; Sterling Stamping Plant; Trenton Engine Plant; Warren Stamping Plant.

The plant Wellbeing, Health and Safety (WHS) Specialist is responsible to implement and administer standardized WHS processes to ensure compliance to Federal, State, Provincial and Local regulations and Corporate Policies and Procedures. This position will help achieve world class status and impact corporate savings through the elimination of occupational injuries/illnesses, property damage and improvement of production efficiency as well as safeguarding the health and safety of all employees. This specific position will focus on health and safety compliance, Stellantis Production Way (SPW) safety activities, Safety Management System (ISO 45001), and health and safety improvement goals.

The WHS Specialist will report to the Plant WHS Lead and be responsible for and not limited to:



  • Implement WHS training programs and training assessments to ensure required training is identified and conducted.
  • Conduct regular audits of WHS processes and necessary follow-up to ensure compliance and advise plant leadership and corporate WHS staff of findings.
  • Analyze injury/illness experience including ergonomics, identify/track injury correlation, determine root causes, implement corrective action and communicate this information to plant leadership and corporate WHS.
  • Support new equipment programs at the concept stage to ensure that WHS design specifications and regulations are included.
  • Manage routine safety reports including data acquisition, documentation, record keeping, monitoring, review, and approval.
  • Coordinate communication of WHS regulatory inspection activity with plant leadership.
  • Lead WHS projects to improve WHS key performance metrics.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the plant's safety management system to meet ISO 45001 and SPW safety requirements.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Engineering, Science or related field
  • Strong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial and Local regulations and requirements
  • Willingness to work on any shift and additional hours as required
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and / or other software



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 2+ years of Safety, Engineering or similar experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Safety related professional certifications (e.g. CSP, CIH)
  • Master's degree in Safety, Engineering, Science or related field
  • Automotive or manufacturing experience
