Job Summary
The Project Accountant will perform accounting tasks related to various pre-development, base building, landlord, and tenant construction management projects across the portfolio. The ideal candidate will have experience in project accounting and a strong background in Excel. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, a strong communicator, highly detailed and organized. The Project Accountant must demonstrate a strong work ethic and a service attitude toward construction managers, joint venture partners, lenders, and other internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Compilation of monthly draw packages related to various construction projects
- Calculate construction management fees and draft fee waivers
- Review executed agreements to identify legal entity and contract values
- Upload and code related project invoices within automated payables system and eBuilder
- Review and process change orders as needed
- Assist the Senior Project Accountants with cash draws
- Interact with project managers, tenants, and general contractors on a regular basis
- Work directly with the asset management team for draw population, funding, and disbursement
- Coordinate with title companies on escrow formation and draw disbursements
- Attend or coordinate project-related meetings to inform the team regarding the current status of project financials, including contracts, change orders and invoices and following up on any identified actions as discussed
- Work with cross-functional teams (e.g. Corporate Accounting, Property Management, Property Accounting, Development Services) in producing the monthly draw (and reports, as needed)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- 1-2 years of project and/or construction accounting experience
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel
- Exposure to automated payables systems and/or CM software (eBuilder) a plus
- High attention to detail, deadline-oriented, excellent time-management, and interpersonal skills
- Must be familiar with G702/703 Pay applications and lien waivers
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
- Ability to multi-task, work independently, and work under tight timelines
Compensation
$70,000 - $80,000 annually, dependent upon experience and skills
