A Brief Overview

The Division of Outpatient Behavioral Health is seeking a psychologist with expertise in the assessment and treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents. The psychologist provides psychological services to patients throughout the CHOP outpatient program, participates in the educational experience of trainees, establishes plans and initiates professional growth and leadership within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, and presents work at the local or regional level.

The role of the Psychologistis to carry out diagnostic evaluations and evidence-based psychosocial intervention with a diverse population of children and families ranging from early childhood through adolescence. Treatment is provided to individual patients, families, and through group formats. The primary diagnosis addressed is ADHD though experience with differential diagnosis and intervention for commonly co-existing neurodevelopmental, internalizing and externalizing diagnoses is required. The ideal candidate will also have experience interpreting psychoeducational assessments and identifying learning/academic concerns. Advanced training in behavioral parent training, school consultation, behavioral health diagnostic evaluation, andexperience working in a fast-paced setting such as an Academic Medical Center is preferred.

Psychologists are encouraged to support training across disciplines in our multidisciplinary department (child psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, and nurse practitioners) and to contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives in the division. Psychologists appointed to this position are strongly encouraged to join the faculty in Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine of University of Pennsylvania.

What you will do

Clinical Activity

  • Provide comprehensive assessment and treatment services to children and families, in inpatient, day hospital, and/or outpatient settings, and communicate with referral sources as indicated
  • Perform clinical services at a percent of effort as designated by supervisor.
  • Adhere to DCAPBS productivity standards.
  • Present a scheduling template that rolls out, per department/division guidelines, delineating availability and anticipated vacation and conference time. Schedule must include the openings necessary to fulfill the percent of clinical effort designated by supervisor.
  • Follow all CHOP and DCAPBS policies and procedures regarding clinical and administrative activity associated with providing direct patient care.
  • Assure that professional practice is in accordance with applicable professional and licensing body standards
  • Practice as an Independent Clinician
  • Assure that CHOP, DCAPBS, Joint Commission and other regulatory body patient care standards are met.
  • Assure that all CHOP and DCAPBS clinical and billing documentation standards are met
  • Regular and periodic direct observation of clinical activity, chart review and discussion with non-DCAPBS team members.
  • May serve in clinical leadership roles such as:
    • Developing clinical and treatment protocols, peer education programs, and monitoring compliance through direct observation and chart review
    • Collaborating with other DCAPBS clinicians to operationalize and grow empirically-based models of care that best serve the needs of patients
    • Acting as a resource and mentor for DCAPBS clinicians
    • Demonstrating leadership in program development, quality improvement, and and designing/executing QI and/or patient safety initiatives

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with DCAPBS and other Department/Division colleagues to assure that patients receive care consistent with patient circumstance and need.
  • Respond to requests for consultation and service in a timely manner.
  • Participate in DCAPBS and CHOP committees in membership and/or leadership capacity
  • Work collaboratively with DCAPBS administration to support patients in being appropriately scheduled.
  • Attend and participate in department/division/institution meetings appropriate for or required by role.

Teaching

  • Participate in education and training within the department's training programs. This may include providing clinical supervision, lectures, and facilitated learning experiences
  • Establish themselves as providing high-quality educational experiences for department trainees
  • Contribute to interprofessional training activities and experiences
  • Participate in activities of the training faculty
  • Membership in national professional organizations, for example, American Psychological Association (APA)
  • Active in multiple DCAPBS, CHOP, regional, and national activities
  • Participate in the dissemination of psychological science and/or clinical care at a local, regional or national level

Other

  • Demonstrate commitment to Department/Division and hospital
  • Complete all mandatory education requirements, annual PPD testing, flu vaccine and other vaccinations as per CHOP policy
  • Maintain licensure including completion of required continuing education
  • Collaborate with internal staff to complete CHOP requirements to include but not limited to Medical Staff Application
  • Establish plans for professional growth with supervisor
  • Participate in clinical program development
  • Participate in community service
  • Participate in ongoing professional practice evaluations as a clinician and peer reviewer

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree - Required
  • Doctorate Psychology - Required

Experience Qualifications

  • APA or CPA Accredited internship training - Required
  • Completed post-doctoral training in child and adolescent focused psychology - Required
  • Prior experience in an outpatient academic medical center setting or similar- strongly preferred

SALARY RANGE:

$36,279.00 - $205,640.00 Annually

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
