Position Title: EHS Specialist Location: North Chicago, IL (Onsite) Assignment Duration: 6 months from start date (possible conversion) Work Schedule: Day shift, generally 7-330. Weekends only in event of emergency or scheduled weekend work that required supervision, would be paid. Work Arrangement: Onsite Position Summary: Implement and maintain health and safety (EHS) programs, as assigned, to ensure regulatory and internal compliance and reduce safety risks to employees, contractors, and visitors. Background & Context: * The position will be based out of the North Chicago campus but will have responsibilities at a number of campuses across Lake County. * The ability to effectively assess safety risk, drive safety improvement initiatives, engage with a variety of functional teams "in the field," and to develop/deliver training will be critical components of this role. * The focus of this position will be on Health & Safety, rather than Environmental. Key Responsibilities: * Provide safety oversight and guidance across a variety of campuses and settings, including maintenance, warehousing, construction; includes significant field work that may be outside. * Complete risk assessments (i.e., job hazard analyses, HAZOPs, etc.). * Monitor regulatory requirements/trends, conduct impact analyses, and implement programs to ensure compliance with both regulatory and internal standards. * Develop and deliver training that meets the needs of the trainee and/or business. * Identify and drive improvements that reduce the risk profile and improve the safety of overall organization. * Communicate compliance status to management and stakeholders. * Conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement action plans that prevent similar incidents from occurring. * Lead and/or participate in cross-functional team meetings as a representative of the EHS team. * Serve as an EHS subject matter expert. * Produce deliverables that meet milestones and drive initiatives to completion. Qualification & Experience: * Bachelor's Degree (EHS-related, Engineering, Science) plus 4+ years of EHS-related experience. * Ability to work on their feet for extended periods of times and traverse across large campuses, both inside and outside. * Self-starter with proven track record of engaging with teams across a variety of functions. * Well-rounded safety experience and significant knowledge of OSHA regulations in areas including: Machine Guarding, LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Spaces, Ergonomics, HazCom, Powered Industrial Trucks, Working at Heights, Personal Protection, Emergency Response, Contractor/Construction Safety, Electrical Safety, Incident Investigation. * Ability to establish measurable project goals, implement plans, and prioritize work demands. * Ability to develop procedures and policies that meet business objectives. * Ability to constructively resolve differences. Top 3-5 skills needed: * Ability to quickly build effective working relationships with internal/external colleagues, stakeholders, and contractors. * Microsoft Office proficiency. * Ability to wear PPE for prolonged periods of time, including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, and hearing protection, at minimum. * Possible temp to perm position: Would consider it after evaluating performance. * Number of interviews: Candidate should talk to 1-2 interviewers, once each. |
