Job Responsibilities

The Director, Portfolio Lead is responsible for comprehensively developing and managing all components of the assigned portfolio of product development work which may include execution and management of critical cross-function and strategic initiatives for leadership. The Portfolio Lead works closely with senior management, customers, and project teams to deliver projects with high quality, on schedule, and within budget. Additionally, they actively support company and department initiatives to drive ongoing development and participate in strategic resource allocation and prioritization across the portfolio.

  • Oversee program execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope. Drive large complex portfolio prioritization, planning, execution, actively managing risks and issues and communicating status in an objective manner to all stakeholders.

  • Dotted line oversight to Project and Program Managers/ Delivery Leads to ensure successful delivery and risk mitigation.

  • Establish and manage a portfolio budget including all projects within the portfolio, ensuring funds are allocated based on priority and strategic importance. Track and report on the progress of a portfolio of projects and ensure they stay on schedule and within budget.

  • Partner with digital and technology solutions groups to manage P&L and cost management of respective portfolio.

  • Oversight of program and project managers for the planning and execution of a portfolio of varying complexity of product development.

  • Continuously evaluate portfolio performance and outcomes, identifying opportunities for process improvements and best practices

  • Support digital and technology solution group with maintaining a 3-year plan for capital investment. Participation of annual budgeting and planning for investment projects/products, supporting the data that is behind each project/product investment initiative to enable making strategic portfolio decisions used by enterprise investment governance process and CEO business reviews. Establishes portfolio procedures, rules, and guidelines; approves exceptions and modifications within own area of responsibility. Execute and maintain a robust governance framework to oversee project execution and compliance including standardization, roles, tools process.

  • Analyzes the impact of changes in existing portfolio including addition and removal of projects and identifies strategies (resources allocation/project sequencing) for accomplishing all desired projects

  • Support technology strategy leaders with customer-facing requirements as necessary

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in a technical discipline or relevant field

  • Experience in program management, preferably in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex programs on time and within budget

  • Extensive knowledge of project management tools and methodologies, experience using project management and business management computer software.

  • Thorough understanding of budgeting, project management, and resource management

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence.

Salary Range:

$118,700.00 - $207,800.00

The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
