Position Summary
The Immigration Services Office at UGA's Office of Global Engagement is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to serve as the front office receptionist and administrative assistant. Working with UGA's intercultural populations, this position is responsible for a variety of duties that fall under the standard policies and procedures of the department or unit. The role involves occasional independent action and judgment, with minimal supervisory work. The position, however, may work with student employees, as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient at prioritizing and multitasking, working well under pressure.
  • Learn and promote a working knowledge of Immigration Services practices and procedures.
  • Provide hospitality to intercultural populations.
  • Possess well-developed organizational skills.
  • Must possess prior working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to learn new software applications, including Sunapsis, Banner, and Athena among others, in order to perform required job duties.
  • Must be punctual and dependable, with a good attendance record.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage p-card responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Able to exchange accurate information to and with others.

  • Able to remain in a stationary position most of the time but may need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operate a computer and telephone.

Greet and assist visitors; answer telephones, assist callers or route calls; provide information and resources to visitors or callers; receive payments and applications from students; review immigration documentation and forward to appropriate Immigration Advisor. Back up the Global Engagement Administrative Assistant, as needed.
