Mechanical Test Engineer A
Location: Pascagoula, MS

General Function

Acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for administering regulatory guidance and interpreting ship specifications and contractual deliverables related to the construction and testing of Shipboard Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Systems. Ensures that testing processes and outcomes meet engineering quality standards.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with customers and government representatives to develop Test Agendas and Procedures for propulsion and auxiliary systems.
  • Ensures quality assurance in engineering deliverables and test documentation.
  • Provides technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders on shipboard systems testing issues.
  • Interprets ship specifications, reviews engineering drawings, and validates vendor-supplied information to support shipboard testing requirements.
  • Witnesses Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) to verify functionality of systems at vendor facilities.
  • Maintains schedule alignment between engineering and production through accurate documentation and coordination.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Deep technical knowledge of shipboard mechanical systems design and operation.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with management to resolve testing issues in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and classification standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Project.

Experience and Training Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in shipbuilding, mechanical testing, and production processes.
  • Strongly preferred: Extensive military experience in an engineering capacity (U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard).
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
